Lifeline Vaal has strived to create emotional wellness, and build the community heart for the distressed, and counter the social illness of the community in the area since 1984. Promoting Personal wellness and resilience and peer education, as well as experiential journeys to discover self and develop wellness.

LifeLine Vaal Triangle is a Non-Profit Organisation offering confidential, 24-hour telephone counseling to the community of the Vaal.

Lifeline Vaal Triangle Workshops
People Skills in the Workplace Workshop
A structured and practical four-day workshop with a workbook, to enable the participant to understand and develop interpersonal competence and to relate this in the organizational environment. 1. "The person first: Who is this person facing you" - To have insight into the unique dynamic of every person: Their growth and development; value systems; critical personality traits (assertiveness, responsiveness, and issues of power/authority/control); functioning relationships and communication; and wellness. 2. "The person functioning in the context of the organization": The person functional in organizational structures and functions; policies and procedures; the orderliness of the employment relationship and accountabilities in reporting relationships; leadership and management styles and outcomes; processes of discipline; grievance and performance. 3. "The manager as a facilitator": The process and skills to facilitate positive outcomes in an individual or group. (minimum of 12 participants) 1. Personal Growth and Basic Counseling
Personal Growth Workshop This workshop comprises of 10 weekly sessions of 3hour duration, and its approach is experiential with plenary inputs and facilitated small group exercises and interactions. The content and outcomes are: Interpersonal competence in the building and maintenance of relationships; Intrapersonal awareness as a unique person and seen in own growth and development; A focus on dimensions of the mental/cognitive, emotions, belief and value systems; and complete wellness; To become real (congruent) and grow, with a special focus on assertiveness; To manage all the negatives, which impact or prevent growth and functioning; as seen in conflict, anger, traumas, stress, shadows, prejudice, games and manipulations. Basic Counseling Skills Workshop This workshop comprises of 6 weekly sessions of 3hours duration. It provides a theoretical basis of structure, process, and principles of counseling or helping people. The Personal Growth Course is a pre-requisite to this course. A 3-hour workshop inclusive of a workbook, concentrating on the following aspects: - Child growth and development. - Effective parenting principles. - Competence guidelines for establishing: -A functional family unit (goals/roles/values) -Effective communicating. -Working relationships. -The orderliness of discipline. -Effectively manage issues and conflict. -Parents as role models. -Aspects; single parenting/house-holding/crises etc. (maximum of 50 persons per workshop) - Child growth and development. - Effective parenting principles. - Competence guidelines for establishing: -A functional family unit (goals/roles/values) -Effective communicating. -Working relationships. -The orderliness of discipline. -Effectively manage issues and conflict. -Parents as role models. -Aspects; single parenting/house-holding/crises etc. (maximum of 50 persons per workshop)

Q What counseling services do you provide?

LifeLine offers 24/7 confidential telephone counselling by trained Lay Counsellors.
Confidential Face 2 Face counselling is available during office hours in language of choice where possible, by appointment when possible.
F2F Counselling after hours can be arranged by appointment
Counselors are available to do regular duties at schools and corporates on request.

Q Do you have a place of safety one can go to in event of trauma?

LifeLine provides the Psycho-social services at two Thuthuzela Care Centres – one in Vereeniging and another in Sasolburg. There are Social Workers, Social Auxiliary Workers and Lay Counsellors in attendance at the Kopanong Thuthuzela on a 24/7 basis and at Metsimaholo Thuthuzela on an office hour basis.

All victims of rape and sexual assault can report to the Thuthuzelas directly. In this way they will get all the help they require under one roof. They can access the services even if they decide NOT to lay any charges. The most important issue at stake is not contracting HIV and at the Thuthuzelas they will receive the necessary tests and medication but it must be within 72 hours of the rape or assault. It is very important that you access the services as soon as possible. The LifeLine staff will support, encourage, and provide counselling to both victim and family of the victim.
LifeLine counselors “follow” all clients providing ongoing emotional support and adherence to medication until they are emotionally stable.
The Social Worker will interact with the spouse or partner where necessary.

Q Do you offer any training programmes?

We offer the following training programmes:
1. Complete counseling training - which includes personal knowledge skills, counseling process and skills and a practical.
2. HR Functionaries - The Employee Crises care entails a two-hour digital workshop on how to manage and help the employee.
3. Unlocking potential programming - A comprehensive and practical guide for all who work with the youth.
4. Distress must fall - A series of short workshops on resolving distress.
